General description
This Finance Manager will be based in Mbezi Beach Offices in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania and will be responsible for the smooth operations of Finance department of the Business Units within Tanzania. (These units in Tanzania includes Dar es salaam, Zanzibar, Mbeya, Dodoma, Mwanza, Arusha and Kilimanjaro.) The position reports to the General Manager and in dotted line reports to East Africa CFO and Group CFO. The Finance Manager will be required to travel to the Business Units regularly and will be responsible for a total staff complement in Accounts and Finance Department in all branches across the country and interacts internally with all staff in lab, Admin staff, HODs, Senior managers and Pathologists.
Position Overview:
The Finance Manager delivers a complete set of financials that accurately reflects the financial status of the company, Implement and maintains the departmental policies and strategies with the company guidelines and supervises and leads the day-to-day planning, operations and problem solving to meet required service at standard level. He/she oversees administrative function of the company. Working alongside a business’ Country General Manager, the Finance Manager will be required to be exceptional accountant and hands-on with company finances as well as be commercially aware, advising on the best path of growth for the business.
Duties will include but not limited to the following:
Scope of Work
- Compliance
- Comply with the Cerba Lancet Africa company policies and procedures.
- Follow the Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
- Drive the Cerba Lancet Africa values.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including ISO requirements, audits, finance and accounting management requirements.
- Finance Duties
- Accountable for delivering a completed set of financial Statements to the business by ensuring that income statement Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flow and Statement of Changes in Equity are accurate and reflect the current financial status of the organization.
- In charge of Annual planning processes for budgets, staffing and operational matters in support of the achievement of organizational strategy and objectives.
- Checking and authorizing all payments through the system and ensuring system and process integrity to ensure correct payments are made.
- Ensuring and checking control accounts are balanced.
- Responsible for the fixed asset register upkeep to ensure correct capturing and records.
- Prepare GL recons and sign off to ensure financial integrity.
- Prepare monthly financial reports to monitor work and performance status as well as determine expenditure trends of the organization and provide Input into strategic planning of the organization.
- Coordinates financial policy, monitors the monthly reports and ensures that they are submitted and ensures the management rules in force within the Group are applied with the Finance Department
- Maintains an accurate filing and record keeping system for all financial statements and company documents.
- Prepares and monitors financial forecasts.
- Monitors financial details to ensure legal compliance.
- Analyzes revenue, expenses, cash flows, and balance sheets.
- Ensure tax compliance.
- Facilitates internal, external and statutory audits.
- Provide an oversite role on Accounts Receivable and Payable functions.
- Ensure that the company`s Debtor’s book is fully reconciled with clients` book.
- Ensures that the company`s creditors book is fully reconciled with suppliers` book.
- Fully participates in Quarterly annual stock take Exercise
Managerial Duties
- Contribute as a member of senior management team in a region to annual planning processes for budgets, marketing, staffing and operational matters.
- Participates in the execution of changes to procedures, policies, and systems to facilitate expansion, compliance, and scaling of the business.
- Adheres to professional conduct requirements in line with organizational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards and monitors compliance of own employees in this regard.
- Attends in-service training and seminars and participates in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to continuously update knowledge and skills as well as comply with professional registration requirements.
- Performs supervisory responsibilities including the following, conflict resolution, (IR matters), encourage team development through leadership, motivation, led by example, involved in the disciplinary processes, monitoring of time and attendance and evaluation of employee performance on work methods according to company policy and procedure.
- Performs investigations into and resolution of customer complaints to ensure a positive image of the organization by clients and patients and to promote the services of Lancet laboratories.
- Attending and Reporting of all Department matters in Management meeting.
- Manage ISO process for the finance department and administration for all staff in the department.
- Manage a staff complement to ensure optimization of resources and productivity.
- Provides day-to-day direction and management of finance and accounts department and support functions to fulfil organization objectives, achieving specific goals maximization of profit and efficiency.
- Serve as the primary financial liaison across all departments, collaborating with departmental heads to develop budgets, monitor expenditure, provide financial insights, ensure regulatory compliance and support strategic decision making.
- Administration Duties
- Oversee Administrative function of the company.
- Oversee and conduct teaching, coaching, mentoring, and training and motivates of Admin personnel, interns and students in administration techniques, processes and systems,if assigned by Manager and deemed competent.
- Any other duty that may be assigned to the manager.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business Accounts/Finance with experience in Managerial duties, should be certified Public Accountant and Master’s degree in relevant fields is an added advantage.
Experience: 5-10 years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing finance department in multiple locations and or international operations.
